A Weighted Blanket may be covered by medical insurance. Of course every health care insurance plan is different. Some will not cover a weighted blanket, but some do. You will never know until you ask. Your doctor or pediatrician can write your child a prescription for a weighted blanket.
Weighted blankets can be considered durable medical equipment, and might be covered.
There are two steps to find out if your blanket will be covered:
1) Call your insurance company to see if they will cover the weighted blanket. Again you can obtain a prescription for a weighted blanket. You can also buy a weighted blanket and turn the receipt in to see if it will be reimbursed.
2) Find a durable medical equipment provider in your area and see if they will handle the insurance claim for you.
If your weighted blanket isn't covered by insurance, but you still need help paying for your blanket, we recently instituted AfterPay payments on our website, which allows you to pay in 4 installments to help offset the cost of your weighted blanket.
